My only World's Fair Souvenirs that survived through the years.

On my last trip to the World's Fair, they had slashed the souvenir prices so much that you could pick up stuff for dirt cheap. The Fair was probably trying to get rid of everything so that they wouldn't have to store it or destroy it. I picked up a lot of stuff on that day, I bought a World's Fair wallet, T-Shirts, keychain, mugs, glasses, hats, and who knows what else. The only two souvenirs that survived through years of moving, college, storms, and kids are my two mugs. I never use them and I am surprised I still have them. I used to have my old season pass also, but in the last few years that has seemed to disappear.

  1. Hey Harold - I'm enjoying your Fair blog. Do you know if the pelican mascot had a name? I'm a cataloger at the Historic New Orleans Collection and I came across your blog when I was researching some Fair souvenir pins we acquired recently.

In case you haven't been and are interested, we have a nice variety of Fair souvenirs at the Williams Research Center at the Historic New Orleans Collection. We're open Tuesday-Saturday.

  6. Generally we do not allow photographs to be made by researchers. We do have a photography department that makes images that you could purchase. However, be sure to ask the reading room staff about photography when you visit, as occasionally exceptions to the policy are made. I don't work in the reading room, but rather behind the scenes, so I can't give you a firm answer I'm afraid.

  7. Hey everyone......!

The Fair Mascot's name was "Seymore" deFair. It was designed to sound as "see more the fair".

I should know because it's ME. Check me out at www.seymoredefair.com

    Cheers,
